Unblock Your Ears

Welcome to the first post.

The human body is amazing and offers ways to operate your body systems and organs in many ways.  One example of this is plugged ears.

The ear has three parts, the inner, middle and outer ear.

The middle ear is connected to the back of your nose through the eustacian tubes.

These tubes drain out from the ears and equalize the pressure between the middle and the outer ear keeping your hearing in tact.

When working properly, these tubes drain out fluids and keeps your hearing doing the right thing.

Problems arise when the tubes get blocked.

This is frequently associated with sinus infections, allergies or quick changes in pressure when flying or scuba diving.

Ear wax build up can also lead to problems with your ears.

Ears can be plugged in many ways and you have to relieve them properly.

Welcome to the Unblock Your series of the Ears.

Unplugging Ears Plugged Due to Infections

Clogged sinuses house bacteria and viruses that can cause pain in the ears and give them the plugged feeling.  The sinus can lead to pressure and fluid retentions and make it hard to hear due to the pressure and fluid build up.

1. Saline Spray or Netti Pots

Stuffy ears and noses are often related and cause inflammation because of a sinus infection. Using a mild decongestant might work to help you unblock your nose and the feeling of stuffiness.

Saline Spray or a Saline Wash may help further clear your ears.

How to make your own nasal spray:

Get a cup of iodized water and add 1/2 tsp of salt and 1/2 baking soda (this makes it so it doesn't burn).  Get a sterilized bottle (you can boil or use the microwave) for storage. Then, get a bulb syringe or squeeze bottle.

Pour the mixture into the squeeze bottle.

Place the bottle near one nostril with your head slightly tilted.  Hold your other nostril closed and allow the water to flow with your mouth open.

Gently blow your nose and do the other side.

You should notice a lot of mucus coming out and feel  a sensation of released pressure.

Store any extra saline solution.

Repeat as needed.

2. Unclogging Ears with Essential Oils

Tea tree oil is an antibiotic in a sense and also has anti inflammatory properties that can help with keeping any infection from causing further damage.

has excellent antiseptic, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. Its antibacterial and antiviral qualities make it a good remedy for infections of sinus or any other nasal and respiratory infections. This may also help you in unclogging your plugged ears.

Using Tea Tree Oil is easy.  You simply boil a pot of water with tea tree oil in it and tild your head over the steam.  This may provide immediate relief.

This is also a great way to decongest yourself naturally.

3. Use Alcohol and Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a common household remedy for sinus infections as it helps dissolve mucous and keeps Candida at bay.   It helps to remove infections and unplug your ears.

You mix the Apple Cider Vinegar and rubbing alcohol and then you pour the solution into the affected ear.

Once your ready, hold a towel and turn your head to allow the solution to fall out of your ear.

The change in pressure should allow your ears to unplug.
